Cassava, also known as Yuca in Spanish or Mandioca in Portuguese, is a tropical, starchy staple of South American origin (Brazil and Paraguay). It is a traditional starch tuber similar to a sweet potato. In this part of the region, it is more popularly known as Tapioca. Cassava is generally known to have a low carbohydrate and fibre content.
Cassava chips offer a healthier way of snacking as they contain 40% less fat than normal potato chips. This is because with twice the fibre of regular potato chips, the chips naturally absorb less oil during production. Cooked with care in individual batches under well-regulated manufacturing conditions, these thin slices of Cassava carry the delicate flavour of the tropics and the crunchiness which chips lovers have come to expect.
